  17. <p>    "I hopped around the room, knocked over plants and uttered
  18. unintelligibly." And all with such flair that BRENDAN FRASER
  19. beat out 125 auditioning Cro-Magnons to star in Encino Man. "I
  20. fashioned my movements and energy after a dog I once knew." His
  21. role in School Ties, due this fall, was less of a stretch.
  22. Fraser, who attended an elite Canadian boarding school, plays
  23. an athlete at an American prep school in the 1950s who faces
  24. prejudice because he is Jewish. He recalls his own alienation
  25. as a student. "I was intimidated rooming with the sons of
  26. Cabinet members and the Prime Minister," he said. "They all
  27. wanted to become politicians. I wanted to be an actor." So much
  28. for popularity polls.
